Prepare for the Aging Boom!
Offered in the spring semester each year this non-credit program offers students an opportunity to learn more about older adults and practice communication skills with them.
No matter your specialty, your clients, patients and customers WILL be older adults. With the Baby Boomers rapidly aging, an even larger number of patients & clients will be older adults – but most of them won’t be frail or ill. The majority have always been active and engaged in their community.
This Program will give you an opportunity to experience older adults who belong to this majority - those with a wealth of experiences who are still very active. Each student in the program is paired with one of these older adults (as a senior mentor) for a series of guided activities – 1 per month.
You’ll only spend a couple hours each month – approximately 10
for the semester. And - the meetings with your senior mentor can be planned around your schedule. We have wonderful older adults who have volunteered to talk to you about what it is really like to age.
You’ll be amazed at what you will learn from them!
